Komodo is published by Abair (Pty) Ltd, a company registered in South Africa. This policy explains what the Komodo app does with your information.
THE SHORT VERSION
You do not need an account to use Komodo. We do not sell your data, we do not show you ads, and we do not use advertising or analytics tracking kits. What you do in Komodo stays on your phone. The only thing the app sends to us is a request for the lesson you are about to study.
NO ACCOUNT REQUIRED
Komodo does not ask you to register, sign in, or give us your name, email address or phone number. We do not build a profile of you and we have no way to identify you personally from your use of the app.
WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE
The following is stored only on your phone and is never sent to us:
Your lessons and the subjects you are studying
Your progress, scores and study statistics
Your settings, chosen level, grade and region
Coins, streaks and daily goals
Deleting the app removes all of this from your device.
WHAT IS SENT TO OUR SERVERS
As you study, the app downloads lesson content from our servers. These requests tell us which lesson was asked for. They do not tell us who asked for it. We send no name, no account, no email address and no advertising identifier with them.
SPOKEN LESSONS
Komodo can read lesson text aloud. The speech is generated on your device. No audio is recorded, stored or uploaded, and the app does not use your microphone.
PURCHASES
Subscriptions and purchases are handled by Apple and by RevenueCat, which manages our subscription records. We can see whether a subscription is active. We never see your card number, billing address or Apple ID.
WHAT WE DO NOT DO
We do not sell or rent your information to anyone
We do not show advertising
We do not include advertising, analytics or tracking kits
We do not track you across other apps or websites
We do not sell or share information for cross-context behavioural advertising
We do not access your camera, microphone, photo library, contacts or location
CHILDREN AND STUDENTS
Komodo is built for school and university study, and we expect many users to be under 18.
Because Komodo has no accounts, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not ask a child for their name, contact details or location, and we do not profile or advertise to them.
HOW LONG WE KEEP THINGS
We do not keep a history of what you have studied. Lesson requests are served and not retained against any individual.
YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in South Africa, the GDPR in the UK and Europe, or similar laws elsewhere — including the right to ask what we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, and to complain to a regulator.
Because Komodo has no accounts, we usually hold nothing that is linked to you. If you believe we do, contact us and we will help.
SECURITY
Everything the app sends travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we change how Komodo handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
